Herbert McGurk - Herbert McGurk is the president of CBZ Foundation and CBZ Reboot. CBZ Reboot has been working with LAUSD since 2018. He has served on these boards since 2018 and has been ballroom dancing since 2007. Previously, he joined USA Dance Los Angeles County Chapter #4031 and serviced on the board as treasurer and president. He has also served for four (4) years as membership director, Ethics Committee Chair for USA Dance’s National organization and presently president of USA Dance Los Angeles County Chapter. USA Dance Los Angeles County Chapter has donated more than $10,000 in scholarships for LAUSD K-12 and Special Educations programs.
Mr. McGurk joined CBZ organizations because he wanted an opportunity to create dance programs for undeserved communities, Special Olympics, and children. His vision to provide opportunities through movement for young people to improve their self-esteem as well as promoting mental, emotional and physical well-being. He is a member of the Rotary Club of Los Angeles which support AbilityFirst, working with special needs children. Herb McGurk is a real estate broker at Coldwell Banker Beverly Hills. He specializes in representing the sale and purchase of luxury homes and investment properties. In addition, he is a producer/director/writer in independent films at Ruben Soto Films. |

Kym Zion - Kym Zion is the founder of CBZ Reboot and secretary of the organization. CBZ Reboot is an organization supporting physical, emotional, and mental well-being through dance movement programs. In addition, she is the founder of the Connor Bishop Zion Foundation (CBZ), www.cbzfoundation.org – a non-profit organization named for her late son to promote his vision to expand and ensure dance access to Dancesport youth, individuals with disabilities and youth-in-need. She has served as the National Director of K-12 Programs USA Dance and on the General Council.
Like her late son, Ms. Zion fully believes dance movement is a viable tool to help maintain wellness. In 2015, in partnership with the Dorothy Jayne Foundation founded by Dr. Sanford Wright, Jr MD, and his wife Olga Foraponova, a two-time US American Smooth Dance Champion, Kym assisted in the development and launched Dance Wellness, a program for K-12 school age children. She has also organized numerous events in the Dance Industry including national competitions and productions. Ms. Zion is actively involved in the Special Olympics and works with Louis Van Amstel, Ambassador for Dancesport. She is using Relationship Management skills honed from her professional background in Sales/Business Development and Channel Management for technology industry companies to help grow partnership dancing socially and competitively. |
Maria Kordit, MHaOfficer

Originally from Sochi, Russia, Maria Kordit moved to Seattle, Washington in 1998. At age 9 she began ballroom dancing across various studios in the Seattle area. As a competitor, she reached an Amateur level with successful rankings on the national level. At age 18, she decided to focus on academics and pursue her second passion in healthcare. Dance never left her side as she continues to teach until this day, with a primary specialty in children & special needs programs. Her healthcare career has taken her from Seattle, to Orange County/L.A., and now to New York where she continues to find time and passion for dance. She is no stranger to the Dancesport world, as she has trained with world class coaches, and worked in competition administration with some of the top dancers in the world. Recently Maria finished a Master’s Degree at Columbia School of Public Health, allowing for more time to resume what she loves most – dancing herself. Maria truly believes that dance can change lives – she has seen it happen from the young to the elderly – and will continue to bring her passion for healthcare and dance together.

Kristina ZionMaster of Science - Advisor

Kristina Zion graduated summa cum laude with a B.A. in Psychology from San Diego State University (SDSU). After her undergraduate education she continued her educational journey at SDSU receiving a graduate certificate in Early Childhood: Social Emotional Behavioral Regulation Intervention Specialist. Kristina completed her educational career at SDSU with a M.S. in Child Development with an emphasis in Early Childhood Mental Health. As a post graduate, Kristina is an Associate Professional Clinical Counselor (APCC) working towards licensure as a Licensed Professional Clinical Counselor (LPCC). Currently, Kristina is working both at a private practice as a therapist for children and adults and at a substance abuse recovery outpatient program for adults. Outside of her clinical work, Kristina teaches children Aerial Yoga and her hobbies include aerial arts, yoga, hiking, and dancing.

LOUIS VAN AMSTEL

Three-time World Dance Champion and Emmy- nominated choreographer Louis van Amstel is best known for his ten stunning turns on the smash hit TV show “Dancing with the Stars.” Louis has enjoyed amazing seasons on the show with partners such as Paula Deen, Trista Sutter, Lisa Rinna, Monique Coleman, and Priscilla Presley. In Season 9, Louis was partnered with Kelly Osbourne, whom he helped transform from underdog to fan favorite and lost 35 lbs along the way. In the following seasons Louis partnered Niecy Nash, Margaret Cho, Kendra Wilkinson, and Sabrina Bryan in the All-star season. This Fall, Louis is joining the Dutch version of “Dancing with the Stars” as an expert judge on the nations biggest TV-network.
Louis served as Choreographer, creative director, and performer, for the immensely popular “Dancing with the Stars” live tours in 2006 and 2007. His creative vision helped to make the tours one of the most successful live shows. CBZ Reboot is introducing LaBlast Fitness into the Los Angeles United School District. |
SHAWN FISHER

Shawn Fisher is a Professor of dance for the Brigham Young University –Idaho Theatre and Dance Department. He has coached youth and collegiate ballroom teams for 32 years. He has toured extensively both in the United States and around the world as the director of the BYU Idaho Dance Alliance performing company.
As a competitor he was a bronze medalist in the World Latin Formation team championships. Holds four national Formation titles and was a U.S. finalist in Standard, Latin, Smooth, and Rhythm. Shawn was formerly the Sr. Vice President of USA Dance as well as an adjudicator with the NDCA. He is currently a WDSF adjudicator, USA Dance Chairman and a national examiner for DVIDA. He and his wife Janie direct the Idaho Ballroom Academy and are the proud parents of seven lovely children. |

Mr. Zion recently joined the Board of Directors at CBZ Reboot, Inc. He has a personal interest being the uncle of the late Connor Bishop Zion. He has years of experience in the corporate world and has a Master in Business Administration and a Bachelor in Political Science. He hopes to be instrumental with contracts, scholarship programs and help seek grants for CBZ Reboot. Mr. Zion’s professional career has been in Business Development, Management and Negotiations focusing on Financial Services and Sales.
As a former athlete himself he brings a wealth of information regarding youth athletic programs. He is the father of 3 and has 3 grandsons. |
